The Dell Rapids Quarriers fell to the top ranked Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in straight sets on Thursday, October 12th at Sioux Falls Christian High School.  The Chargers won by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-11.

Sydney Stofferahn had seven kills for Dell Rapids.  Maria Jackson added four kills, and Trinity Gordon had three kills.  Brooke Klein and Hannah Fletcher both finished with 12 digs in the match.  Mackenzie Grisham had 10 digs, and Gordon finished with nine digs.  Fletcher also had 13 set assists on the night.

Dell Rapids (15-7) will play in the Dak-12 Conference Tournament on Saturday, October 14th in Madison.  The Quarriers are the #4 seed and will open up the tournament against Elk Point-Jefferson.

 

Brooke Klein recorded her 1,000th dig of her career in a five-set loss to the Deubrook Area Dolphins on Tuesday, October 10th at Dell Rapids High School.  Deubrook defeated the Quarriers by set scores of 25-17, 24-26, 21-25, 26-24, 15-7.Klein finished with 40 digs on the night.  Trinity Gordon added 11 kills and 25 digs.  Maria Jackson finished with nine kills and nine digs.  Hannah Fletcher had 31 set assists, 22 digs, and five kills.  Sydney Stofferahn had 10 kills and two blocks, while Jayda Knuppe had nine kills.

Dell Rapids (15-6) will play at #1 Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday, October 12th.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team won for the seventh time in their last eight matches and won their 15th match of the season on Monday, October 9th.  The Quarriers defeated the Baltic Bulldogs in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.

Sydney Stofferahn led the team with seven kills.  Trinity Gordon, Maria Jackson, and Jayda Knuppe all had five kills.  Hannah Fletcher and Brooke Klein both had three kills each.  Klein also added 25 digs.  Gordon finished with 10 digs, and Fletcher had six digs.  Fletcher also had a team-high 23 set assists.  Jackson also finished with two ace serves in the match.

Dell Rapids (15-5) will host the Deubrook Area Dolphins on Tuesday, October 10th.

In their second straight day of traveling, the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team defeated the Vermillion Tanagers 3-1 on Tuesday, October 3rd, in Vermillion.  Dell Rapids won by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 26-24, 27-25.

Trinity Gordon finished the night with 17 kills and 29 digs.  Brooke Klein had 43 digs and two ace serves.  Hannah Fletcher tallied 21 digs, 43 set assists, and two kills.  Jayda Knuppe had 11 kills and eight digs.  Mackenzie Grisham finished the match with 23 digs, three kills, and one block.  Maria Jackson had 10 digs and seven kills, and Sydney Stofferahn added eight kills and a block.

Head coach Jessica Ahlers said, “These last two games were mentally and physically tough for the team.  Traveling such a long distance back to back was hard on the girls, and it affected our game play.  It will be nice to have a break to regroup and focus on the upcoming games.”

Dell Rapids (14-5) will play in Baltic on Monday, October 9th.

 

The Dell Rapids Quarriers made the first of two long trips south on I-29 on Monday, October 2nd.  The Dakota Valley Panthers defeated the Quarriers in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-5, 25-16.

Trinity Gordon led the team with six kills and 10 digs in the match.  Maria Jackson finished with five kills and four digs.  Sidney Stofferahn added two kills and two blocks. Hannah Fletcher had 12 set assists and eight digs.

Dell Rapids, 13-5 on the season, heads south again on Tuesday, October 3rd.  The Quarriers will be in Vermillion to take on the Tanagers.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team defeated the Lennox Orioles in straight sets on Thursday, September 28th, at Dell Rapids High School.  Dell Rapids won by scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.

Hannah Fletcher finished the match with 28 set assists, 10 digs, and six kills.  Trinity Gordon had 18 digs, 16 service points, eight kills, five aces, and one block.  Jayda Knuppe added eight kills and a block.  Sydney Stofferahn had five kills and four blocks.  Maria Jackson finished the night with six kills and six service points, and Brooke Klein had 20 digs and five service points.

Dell Rapids (13-4) will face a tough road schedule in back-to-back games early next week.  The Quarriers travel to Dakota Valley on Monday, October 2nd, and then follow that with a trip to Vermillion on Tuesday, October 3rd.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers won an exciting five-set match over the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars on Tuesday, September 26th, in Salem.  Dell Rapids won by set scores of 22-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-17, 15-13.

Head coach Jessica Ahlers said, “This is the first match that has gone to 5 sets for us, so it was a good test to see if the team could push through both physically and mentally. Overall the girls played a great game and performed well, but I would like to see them more consistent throughout the sets, especially heading into the later part of the season.”

Maria Jackson had 16 kills on the night.  Jayda Knuppe added 10 kills.  Trinity Gordon had seven kills, and Sydney Stofferahn had six kills.  Stofferahn also had four blocks.  Knuppe and Mackenzie Grisham both had a block.  Brooke Klein finished with 39 digs in the match.  Gordon had 27 digs.  Grisham added 20 digs, Hannah Fletcher had 12 digs, and Jackson had nine digs.  Fletcher had 37 set assists in the match.

Dell Rapids (12-4) will host Lennox on Thursday, September 28th.

 

 

 

On Saturday, September 23rd, the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team competed in the Pentagon Volleyball Tournament with 20 other teams. The day started with pool play, where Dell Rapids competed against Western Christian and Rapid City Central.  Dell Rapids lost to Western Christian 11-25, 13-25, which was their only loss of the day.  The Quarriers defeated Rapid City Central 23-25, 25-16, 25-23.

After pool play completed, the Quarriers were placed in the Silver Bracket.  They opened up the bracket play with a tough game against Mt Vernon-Plankinton that resulted in a Quarrier win by scores of 27-25, 25-18.  The day ended with a win against Central Lyon in the championship match 25-20, 27-25.

Brooke Klein finished the day with 63 digs, eight service points, and three kills.  Hannah Fletcher had 31 digs, 22 service points, 14 kills, and 77 set assists.  Jayda Knuppe had 18 kills, 10 digs, 20 service points, and five blocks on the day.  Mackenzie Grisham added 30 digs, 10 kills, and 14 service points.  Maria Jackson had 18 kills, 14 digs, and 17 service points.  Sydney Stofferahn had 12 kills and five blocks.  Trinity Gordon finished with 38 digs, 27 kills, and 13 service points.

Head coach Jessica Ahlers said, “It was great to come in and compete against teams we don’t normally see during the season.  The girls had to adapt to each team and adjust their play in order to be successful. This tournament also provided an opportunity to work on our mental toughness and finding an inner drive to come back when we are behind. During one of the games we were down 10 points (3-13) and were able to chip away at the deficit with hard work, resulting in a win. These are the things we will need to continue to focus on as we move into the tough part of our season.”

The Quarriers (11-4) will travel to McCook Central/Montrose on Tuesday, September 26th.

The Flandreau Fliers snapped a six game winning streak for the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team.  Flandreau defeated Dell Rapids 3-1 on Thursday, September 21st, in Flandreau.  The set scores were 13-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 for Flandreau.

Trinity Gordon finished the match with 11 kills and 29 digs.  Brook Klein had 15 digs and two ace serves.  Maria Jackson had six kills.  Sydney Stofferahn and Hannah Fletcher both had two blocks each.  Fletcher also finished the match with 29 set assists.

Dell Rapids now falls to 8-3 on the season.  The Quarriers will be back in action on Saturday, September 23rd, at the Sanford Pentagon Classic in Sioux Falls.

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team won their sixth match in a row on Tuesday, September 19th.  Dell Rapids defeated the Garretson Blue Dragons in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-14.

Hannah Fletcher tallied 15 service points throughout the night, including four aces.  Fletcher also had 21 set assists.  Jayda Knuppe and Sydney Stofferahn had seven kills each.  Stofferahn had two blocks, while Knuppe had one.  Brooke Klein had 14 digs, and Trinity Gordon finished with 13 digs and one block.  Maria Jackson added nine service points with an ace.

The Quarriers now improve to 8-2 on the season.  Dell Rapids will travel to Flandreau to take on the Fliers on Thursday, September 21st.
