Quarrier Volleyball Finishes 7th in Canton

NewDRLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team finished seventh at the Canton Tournament on Saturday, August 27th.

Dell Rapids dropped a match to Lennox 13-25, 23-25 and also lost a match to Vermillion 23-25, 11-25.  The Quarriers won one match in pool play over West Lyon 25-23, 16-25, 25-23.

Dell Rapids defeated Garretson in the seventh place game 25-14, 25-15.

The Quarriers will host Elk Point-Jefferson in the first home match of the season on Tuesday, August 30th.

Quarrier Volleyball Drops Season-Opening Match

NewDRLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarriers dropped their 2016 season-opening match to the West Central Trojans 12-25, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25 on Thursday, August 25th, in Hartford.

Emma Paul had eight service points for Dell Rapids.  Brooke Klein added seven points along with 20 digs.  Trinity Gordon had eight kills and had 11 digs.  Sydney Stofferahn added five kills, and Hannah Fletcher had 22 assists.

The Quarriers will play in the Canton tournament on Saturday, August 27th.

The JV and C teams suffered setbacks in both of their matches.  The C team dropped their match by the set scores of 27-25, 8-25, and 13-15.  The JV lost two sets to zero.  Cited for their efforts were Maria Jackson, Gabi Rus, Jessica Schoeberl in the JV match.  Katie Steineke, Kyra Graham, and Dezi Rus led the C team efforts.

Quarrier Volleyball Advances in Region 3A Tourney

NewDRLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team advanced to the semi-final round of the Region 3A Tournament with an opening-round win over the Flandreau Fliers on Tuesday, November 3rd, in Madison.  The Quarriers won in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-20, 25-13.

Mikaela Stofferahn, Trinity Gordon, and Emma Paul each had seven kills apiece in the match.  Chole Solberg finished the night with five ace servies and 19 set assists.  Gordon and Paul also anchored the Quarrier defense.  Gordon had 16 digs, while Paul ended with 15.  Sara Van Regenmorter led the team with four blocks at the night.  Stofferahn and Gordon each had one.

Dell Rapids improves to 8-21 on the year.  The Quarriers will play Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday, November 5th, at Sioux Falls Christian High School at 6:00 p.m.

Quarrier Volleyball Drops Final Match of Year

DRHSvsBeresford_VB_10-22-15The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team dropped their final regular season match to the Beresford Watchdogs on Monday, October 26th, by scores of 19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17, 13-15.  It was also the final home match of year.

Mikaela Stofferahn ended the night with 12 kills and three blocks.  Chloe Solberg tallied 15 points, 25 set assists, and nine digs.  Trinity Gordon posted nine points and seven digs.

“We had our opportunities, but let them slip away.  Our first pass to the net was our Achilles heel during the night.  This sets up our opponent with too many free passes to come at us.  We came back nicely a couple of times with the play of our bench.  That is always nice to see.  We will travel to Flandreau next Tuesday night in the opening round of regions.  A new season is here, and I look forward for us to put together our best matches of the season,” commented Head coach Dale Solberg.

Dell Rapids regular season comes to an end with a record of 7-21.  The Quarriers will play in Flandreau on Tuesday, November 3rd, in the opening round of the Region 3A Tournament.

JV Results:

The JV team played well in their 25-23 and 25-8 win.  Grace Tisher had four digs and an impressive 12 points. Sydney Stofferahn smacked seven kills.  Sara Van Regenmorter contributed three kills and seven digs. The JV ended with a 12-7 record.

C Team Results:

The C team lost by set scores of 22-25 and 22-25   Maria Jackson (six points, five kills, 12 digs), Lydia Symens (13 digs and four points), Regan Stone (three kills, 14 digs), Ravyn Hoffman (seven assists and nine digs) led the team efforts.  The C team finished with a 16-6 record.

Quarrier Volleyball Drops Match to Madison

DRvsMad_VB_10-20-15_1The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team lost their home match against the Madison Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 20th, by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-17.

“Madison played well.  We played hard and very well at times, but we gave Madison too many free balls that give them easy opportunities to attack us.  I really liked our determination.  That is what I like to see,”  stated Coach Solberg.

Trinity Gordon had eight kills and 14 digs in the match.  Emma Paul added seven kills and three points.  Chloe Solberg had four points and 21 set assists.  Hannah Welbig finished the night with 14 digs.

The Quarriers fall to 7-19 on the year.  Dell Rapids will have their final home match and final regular season match on Monday, October 26th, as they host the Beresford Watchdogs.  The match will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.

Quarrier Volleyball Snaps Skid

NewDRLogoThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team ended their 10-match losing streak with a win over the Deubrook Area Dolphins on Tuesday, October 13th, in Dell Rapids.  The Quarriers won by game scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.

“This win was a result of a total team effort.  We have been struggling, but the team is continuing to work through our struggles.  Attitude determines altitude.  I appreciate the team’s efforts in practice and matches.  We will continue to get better and ready ourselves for the post-season play,” said head coach Dale Solberg.

Chloe Solberg finished with 37 set assists, 11 points and 12 digs on the night.  Emma Paul added 19 kills and 22 digs.  Trinity Gordon had 11 kills and 21 digs.  Mikaela Stofferahn had seven kills, while Hannah Welbig finished the match with 16 digs.  Jayda Knuppe added 11 points and five kills for Dell Rapids.

The Quarriers improve to 6-15 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Sioux Falls Christian to face the Chargers on Thursday, October 15th.

JV Results:

The JV team earned a win to improve to 11-5 on the year by scores of 25-20, 25-23.  Tiffanie Dorale had nine digs, three kills, and 13 points in the match.  Kenzie Gullickson finished with nine digs, and Knuppe had five kills, four digs, and nine points.

C Team Results:

The C team earned a 27-25, 22-25, 15-9 victory over Deubrook to improve to 16-3.

Baltic Hands Quarrier Volleyball Setback

NewDRLogoThe Baltic Bulldogs defeated the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team on Monday, October 12th, by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-13.  The loss was the Quarriers’ 10th loss in a row.

Head coach Dale Solberg said, “We have to continue to battle harder if we are to get out of our funk.  We are struggling in too many facets of the game and our play shows it.  During these times of struggle, we have to pull together and not become divided.  Winning will take care of itself.”

Mikaela Stofferahn finished the match with eight kills and one block.  Emma Paul added six kills for Dell Rapids.  Trinity Gordon ended with 21 digs, while Chloe Solberg dished out 17 assists.

Dell Rapids falls to 5-15 on the year.

JV Results:

The Quarrier JV team earned a win over Baltic by scores of 23-25, 25-16, 15-8.  Leaders of the match included Ravyn Hoffman with 16 points, Kenzie Gullickson with 14 digs, Jayda Knuppe with seven kills, and Tiffanie Dorale with 13 digs, seven kills, and one block.

C Team Results:

The Quarrier C team earned their 15th win of the season by defeating Baltic 25-19, 25-18.  Regan Stone had four kills and 11 digs in the match.  Hoffman had five points, nine digs, and six assists.  Knuppe finished with seven points, seven digs, and two kills.

Tanagers Get Past Quarrier Volleyball

NewDRLogoThe Vermillion Tanagers defeated the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team on Tuesday, October 6th, in Vermillion by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.  Emma Paul and Mikaela Stofferahn each had five kills in the match for Dell Rapids.  Hannah Welbig and Chloe Solbeg each contributed seven service points on the night.

Head coach Dale Solberg said, “Struggling would be an understatement.  Our minds right now are ‘taking on water’.  Doubt is creeping in, and we have to face that challenge.  The solution is to stay focused and continue to work hard and go toe-to-toe with our opponents.  Good things come from hard work and determination.  Adversity can be good if you have the correct mindset to deal with it.  I still believe, but what matters is that the team does.”

The Quarriers have now dropped eight matches in a row.  Dell Rapids’ record now drops to 5-12.  The Quarriers will travel on Thursday, October 8th, to play the Dakota Valley Panthers.

JV Results:

In the JV match, the Quarriers earned a match win in three games by scores of 23-25, 25-21, 15-8.  Leaders on the night included Tiffanie Dorale with 14 digs and seven kills.  Jayda Knuppe had seven kills, and Kenzie Gullickson finished with 15 digs.

C Team Results:

The C team picked up a win over the Tanagers by scores of 25-11, 21-25, 15-13.  Maria Jackson contributed to 18 points in the match.  Ashlee Lambert was part of eight points and had 10 digs.  Ravyn Hoffman finished with eight digs and seven assists.

Quarrier Volleyball Falls at Home to Lennox

DRHSvsLennox_VB_10-1-15The Lennox Orioles won the final two games of the match to pull out a 3-2 match win over the Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team on Thursday, October 1st, in Dell Rapids.  Lennox won by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-9.

Trinity Gordon had 16 kills for Dell Rapids in the match.  Chloe Solberg finished with five ace serves and 17 set assists.  Sydney Stofferhan had five blocks at the net for the Quarriers.

Dell Rapids falls to 5-12 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Vermillion on Tuesday, October 6th.

JV Results:
In the JV match, the hosts fell 23-25, 25-20, and 11-15.  Defensive standouts included Kenzie Gullickson and Brooke Klein.   Offensive leaders included Emma Paul, Tiffanie Dorale and Hannah Fletcher.

C Team Results:
The C team came up short for the first time this season.  They lost 22-25 and 23-25.  Jayda Knuppe and Maria Jackson were cited for their efforts
