Quarriers 4th in First Golf Meet of Year
The schedule said West Central in Hartford would be the location for the Dell Rapids Quarriers first golf match for the season, but strategy came into play when the chance for the Quarriers to play Meadow Creek Golf in Volga came into the picture. Meadow Creek Golf will host the regional golf meet later in the year, and this was an opportunity to play the course early and see some of the regional competitors as well. Big Sioux Media spoke to Coach Mick Hoglund about the play Monday afternoon and he said the team knows the “region is going to be very, very good” and the Quarriers have some work to do. Team scores had Aberdeen Roncalli finishing 1st with a 310; Sisseton was 2nd with a 314; Madison 3rd with a 317; and the Quarriers 4th with a 329. Other teams competing were Milbank and Sioux Valley.
Individually for Dells was Zach Schroeder with a score of 78 (6th place); Adam Karst with a 79 (9th place); Ted LaCoursiere an 85; Devon Weber with an 87; and Ty Hoglund with a 90. The next outing for the Quarriers will be Wednesday at Dakota Valley.
