The Alcester-Hudson Cubs out scored the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals 30-12 in the second half on their way to a 54-29 win in Yankton on Saturday, January 16th. There were five lead changes in the game and one tie. The Cubs led 12-9 after the first quarter and 24-17 at halftime.
St Mary finished 33% (12-36) from the field, 36% (5-14) from three-point area, and 0-1 from the free-throw line. The Cardinals had 35 team rebounds, 34 of those were defensive rebounds, nine team assists, and turned the ball over 21 times.
Connor Libis had 15 points for the Cardinals. Noah Fiegen had eight points and 11 rebounds along with two assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Austin Welbig had four assists.
The Cardinals (1-9) play Colman-Egan in Arlington in the opening round of the Dakota Valley Conference tournament on Monday, January 18th.
