The #1 Madison Bulldogs scored 35 straight points on their way to a 35-7 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers in Madison on Friday, October 8th.
The Bulldogs only lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Nate Ricke threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Bickett with 6:47 to go in the first quarter. It was the second quarter that was the big quarter for Madison. They scored on the very first play of the quarter when Ricke had a one-yard touchdown run. Ricke scored again with 6:23 to play in the half on a 57-yard run for a 21-0 lead. The final score of the quarter came with 1:30 to go when Ricke threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Mike Peters. The Bulldogs led 28-0 at halftime.
Madison got their final touchdown in the third quarter. With 5:59 on the clock, Bruce Galde had a three-yard touchdown run for a 35-0 lead.
The Quarriers’ lone score came with 2:31 to go in the game. Jade Anstine had a 58-yard run for a touchdown. Miriam Pickard made the extra point.
Dell Rapids’ offense struggled to get anything going all night. The Quarriers finished with a total of 174 yards of offense, 119 rushing yards and 42 passing yards. Dell Rapids also turned the ball over three times in the game and only had eight first downs.
Anstine had the most yards on the ground with his 58-yard touchdown run. Landon Ruesink had 10 carries for 34 yards. Landon Von Holtum had eight carries for 19 yards. Austin Henry was 5-14 passing for 55 yards and two interceptions. Jack Henry was 0-1 with one interception. Ruesink had two catches for 15 yards. Brayden Pankonen had a catch for 19 yards, Braden Fersdahl had a catch for 12 yards, Aiden Boechler had a catch for nine yards.
Mason Stubbe led the defense with 11 tackles. Anstine added nine tackles, and Aiden Geraets finished with six tackles in the game. Ruesink had four tackles and a fumble recovery.
Dell Rapids (4-3) will host Dakota Valley for Homecoming on Friday, October 15th.
