Quarrier LogoThe Dell Rapid Quarriers cruised to their third straight win on Tuesday, February 11th.  The Quarriers defeated the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans 70-45.  The Quarriers led at every quarter break in the game.  Dell Rapids jumped out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter, and extended the lead to 38-26 at halftime.  The defense of Dell Rapids held the Titans to just three points, while the Quarriers pushed their lead to 54-29.  Both teams scored 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Dell Rapids shot 31-55 (56%) from the field in the game.  They were 6-15 (40%) from three-point area, and 2-5 (40%) from the free-throw line.  The Quarriers had a total of 46 rebounds in the game, 13 blocked shots, 15 assists, and just 11 turnovers.

Cody Nielsen led Dell Rapids with 16 points and seven rebounds in the game.  Ty Hoglund also had 16 points along with six rebounds, three steals, and six assists.  Zach White added 12 points and seven rebounds.  Ben Hammer finished the game with nine rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Head coach Jason Fersdahl said, “Defensively, our guys put forth a great effort all night long against a team that really has the capability to shoot the ball well.  Ben Hammer did a tremendous job of protecting the basket, finishing the night with seven blocked shots while altering many more.  Offensively, we were able to hit some shots early in the game, and our posts went strong to the basket and finished well at the rim.  Our offensive execution was very good tonight and our high shooting percentage reflected our good ball movement.”

The Quarriers improve to 10-6 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Dakota Valley to take on the Panthers in a  girls-boys double-header on Friday, February 14th.
