The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team picked up a Dakota 12 Conference win over the Tea Area Titans 45-24 on Friday, December 20th, in Dell Rapids. Dell Rapids scored the first 12 points of the game on their way to a 17-2 lead after the first quarter. The Quarriers extended the lead to 31-10 at halftime. Dell Rapids had a 40-20 lead after the third quarter.
Dell Rapids was led by Brittany Kludt with a game-high 13 points. Mikaela Stofferahn finished the game with 10 points and five rebounds. Arial Hoffman added six points off the bench for Dell Rapids. Sarah Haak had six steals in the game. Dell Rapids was 16-43 (37%) from the field, 11-15 (73%) from the free throw line, and had a total of 23 team rebounds.
Head coach Jeff Dvorak said, “It was exciting to start out as strong as we did. I felt our defense really set the tone as we had a lot of energy and limited Tea’s looks at open shots. We need to improve our offensive consistency, which was evident at the close of the game where we really stalled out rather than finishing things up. ”
Dell Rapids improves to 2-0 on the year. The Quarriers will play Hamlin in the Entringer Classic in Flandreau on Saturday, December 21st, at 2:45 p.m. The game will be on Big Sioux Media.
The Dell Rapids JV team also picked up a win over Tea by a score of 44-22.
