Dell Rapids PBR advanced to the quarterfinals of the State B Tournament with a 4-1 over Cornbelt League foe Salem on Monday, August 12th. Salem scored first in the top of the second inning on a Steve Mehlbrech single that scored Brian Duxbury. PBR got the run back in the bottom half of the second as Nate Alfson led off the inning with a double. Courtesy runner Scott LeBrun scored on an RBI single by Weston Hansen to tie the game at 1-1 after two innings. Dell Rapids PBR would score the final three runs on a 3-run home run by Nate Henry in the bottom of the fifth inning for the win.
Colin Karst picked up the win by pitching seven innings allowing one run on six hits while walking two and striking out two. Dan Conrad pitched the final two innings giving up no runs on no hits while walking one. Cameron Kirkhove took the loss for Salem giving up three runs in 4 1/3 innings of pitching.
Dell Rapids PBR will now face Dimock/Emery on Thursday, August 15th at 8:00 p.m. at Sioux Falls Stadium.
