The Hartford/Humboldt legion team won both games of a double-header with Lennox on Tuesday, June 21st. They took the first game 4-3, and then won the second game 9-2.
Hartford/Humboldt 4, Lennox 3
The first game came down to the final inning and ended in exciting fashion. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. Braden Herr hit an RBI sacrifice fly and Domo Chandaswang had an RBI single for Hartford/Humboldt to tie the game 2-2. The score remained 2-2 until the seventh inning.
Lennox took the lead, 3-2, with a two-out RBI single to center field. Hartford/Humboldt put together a big rally in the bottom of the seventh. Seth Gabbert was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Gage Nelson singled to center field which put runners on first and third with no outs. Bennett Sebert followed with an RBI single to tie the game and move Nelson to third. Jack Linneman then hit the game-winning RBI sacrifice fly to right field.
Sebert had three hits and an RBI. Chandaswang had two singles and an RBI. Linneman finished with a hit and RBI. Nelson and Andrew Zimmer both had a single, and Herr finished with an RBI. Derek Renken pitched the first four innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Chandaswang got the win pitching 2 2/3 innings while allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Hartford/Humboldt 9, Lennox 2
The momentum from game one carried into game two as Hartford/Humboldt scored nine unanswered runs in the first four innings. They got three runs each in the second, third, and fourth innings. Lennox got two late runs in the top of the sixth.
Deuce Sherrard belted a three-run home run to left field in the second inning. Sebert had three hits, including a double. Gavin Koch finished with a hit and two RBIs. Zimmer and Nelson both had a hit and an RBI. Linneman and Renken each had a single as well.
Adam Parsons pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing just three hits while striking out six. Linneman pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
