The Flandreau Fliers gave the Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team their first loss of the season on Friday, December 29th. The Fliers defeated the Quarriers 55-35 at Dell Rapids High School. The Fliers used a big third-quarter run for the victory.
Flandreau held a small three-point lead after the first quarter at 12-9. They were able to extend the lead to four points at 26-22 at halftime. It was the third quarter that gave Flandreau enough separation for the win. The Fliers outscored Dell Rapids 17-4 in the third quarter to lead 43-26 heading into the final quarter. Flandreau then outscored the Quarriers 12-9 in the final quarter as well.
Dell Rapids was led by Aspen Hansen with nine points and four rebounds in the game. Ravyn Hoffman had seven points. Jayda Knuppe finished with five points, and Arial Hoffman added four points. Emma Paul and A. Hoffman led the team with five rebounds each. Flandreau was led by Kathy Parsley with 18 points, and Mara Lunday with 10 points.
The Quarriers (4-1) will host Garretson on Tuesday, January 2nd. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
