The De Smet Bulldog volleyball team traveled to White to play the Deubrook Dolphins on Thursday, August 24th. The Dolphins took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-20.
The Bulldogs were within a point, 5-4, early in the first set. Deubrook then went on a 7-0 run for a 12-5 lead. The lead remained seven points, 15-8, before the Dolphins ended the set on a 10-5 run for a 25-13 win. Deubrook jumped to a quick 10-2 lead to start the second set. The Bulldogs battled back to within one, 13-12, but that was as close as they could get. The Dolphins ended the second set on a 12-4 run for the 25-16 win. De Smet was within three points late in the third set, 22-19, but again Deubrook ended the set on a little run to take the win.
Hazel Luethmers finished with 11 kills, five digs, and three blocks. Mirra Beck added six kills and eight digs. Brooke Jennings had four kills. Megan Dylla had 10 set assists and five digs. Alyssa Asleson tallied five set assists. Ivey Schoenfelder had two blocks.
