Bulldog Girls Get Win over Cyclones

The De Smet Bulldog girls fought through a rough offensive night to defeat the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones 45-28 on Monday, January 9th.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start and built a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but the Cyclones cut the lead down to two, 15-13, by the end of the quarter.  Clark/Willow Lake scored the first basket of the second quarter to tie the game 15-15, but the Bulldogs went on a 15-5 run for a 30-20 halftime lead.

Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter.  The two teams combined for a total seven points.  De Smet held a 33-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter.  The Bulldog defense held the Cyclones to just four points in the fourth quarter as well for the win.

De Smet shot 30% (18-60) overall, 21% (6-28) from three-point area, and just 3-7 from the free-throw line.  Clark/Willow Lake finished the game shooting 22% (10-46) overall, 29% (2-7) from three-point area, and 50% (6-12) from the free-throw line.

Jada Burke finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  Hazel Luethmers added 12 points and four rebounds.  Alyssa Asleson had nine points, three rebounds, and six assists.  Emma Albrecht had four points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Cori Birkel also ended with four points and five rebounds,.
