Second Quarter Run Gives Sioux Valley Win over De Smet Girls

An 18-0 run to start the second quarter was the difference in the game between the De Smet Bulldogs and Sioux Valley Cossacks on Tuesday, January 23rd.  The Cossacks took the win 56-42.

The Bulldogs started the game on a 10-0 run in the first two and a half minutes of the game.  The Cossacks responded with a 14-4 run to end the quarter for a 14-14 tie.  Sioux Valley then started the second quarter on an 18-0 run for a 32-14 lead.  De Smet was able to score the final seven points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 32-21.  Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they couldn’t overcome the deficit in the second half.  Sioux Valley led 45-31 at the end of the third quarter.

Hazel Luethmers had 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Brooke Jennings had six points and six rebounds.  Megan Dylla also had six points, two rebounds, and four assists.  Mirra Beck ended with four points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
