After the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks took the lead in the first quarter, they were able to hold off a rally by the De Smet Bulldogs on Thursday, December 21st. The Sharks earned a 54-44 victory in De Smet.
Most of the first quarter was back and forth, but the Sharks held a 16-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldog offense then went cold. De Smet only scored five points in the second quarter and trailed 34-18 at halftime. The Bulldogs cut the lead down to 10 points, 43-33, going into the final quarter. The defense was able to get a lot of stops in the fourth quarter, but the shots just wouldn’t fall for De Smet.
Hazel Luethmers had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Ivey Schoenfelder had eight points and three rebounds. Aubree Blue had six points. Mirra Beck added five points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Alyssa Asleson also had five points with seven rebounds and two assists.
