The De Smet Bulldogs played in their third straight road match at Dell Rapids St Mary on Thursday, October 12th. The Cardinals won in four sets by scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, and 25-19.
De Smet grabbed the early momentum in the first set with a 9-1 run. They stayed in front and still held an eight point lead at 18-10. St Mary cut the lead to 23-18, but the Bulldogs finished the first set with a 25-19 win. The second set was tied early at 3-3. De Smet went on a small 3-0 run for an early 6-3 lead. The Cardinals then got rolling in the second set. They went on a 6-0 run for a 9-6 lead and then pushed it to an 18-9 score. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 21-17, but St Mary finished the set on a 4-1 run for the 25-18 win.
De Smet started the third set with a 5-2 lead. They continued to hold a 9-6 advantage, but St Mary tied the score 11-11. After a 14-14 tie, the Cardinals went ahead 19-15. De Smet cut the lead to one point, 21-20, but St Mary held them off for a 25-21 wi
