The De Smet Bulldogs cruised to a road victory over the Arlington Cardinals on Friday, September 29th. The Bulldogs won by a score of 56-6.
Britt Carlson connected with Kadyn Fast on a 50-yard touchdown pass to get the scoring started in the first quarter. The defense recorded a safety for an 8-0 lead. Carlson added a 10-yard touchdown run later in the quarter. De Smet got another touchdown in the first quarter on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Carlson to Tom Aughenbaugh. The Bulldogs led 22-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The scoring continued in the second quarter. Carlson had a 45-yard touchdown run. Trace Van Regenmorter had two rushing touchdowns in the quarter. The first one was 48 yards, and the second touchdown was from 20 yards. De Smet built a 42-0 lead by halftime.
Slayten Wilkinson had an eight-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs in third quarter to go ahead 48-0. Arlington was able to get a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The final score of the game came in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard run for Wilkinson.
The Bulldogs finished with 375 yards of offense, 136 passing yards and 239 rushing yards. Arlington had 167 yards of offense, 134 rushing yards and 33 passing yards.
Carlson led the team with six carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns. He was also 4-5 passing for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Fast had a catch for 50 yards and a touchdown, and Aughenbaugh had a catch for 48 yards and a touchdown.
