Chargers Blank De Smet on Senior Night

The Hamlin Chargers spoiled the De Smet Bulldog football senior night on Friday, October 4th with a 64-0 win in a game that ended at the half.

De Smet took the opening kickoff and was able to drive the ball to about midfield, but they were forced to punt.  The Chargers returned that punt 74 yards for a touchdown with 7:56 to go in the opening quarter.  The Bulldogs were forced to punt on their next drive deep in their own territory.  The snap was mishandled and Hamlin recovered the fumble and scored from three yards away with 6:11 remaining in the quarter.  Both two-point conversions were made for a 16-0 lead.

Hamlin’s first offensive play of the game was a 34-yard touchdown pass with 2:51 left in the first.  Another two-point conversion made the score 24-0.  They would get another score on a three-yard run with :38 left.  A two-point conversion extended the lead to 32-0.

The defense and offense of Hamlin continued to flex their muscles in the second quarter.  The Chargers would score four more times before halftime.  They had a two-yard run with 10:18 left.  A 28-yard touchdown pass came with 7:35 to go in the half.  Another touchdown pass, this time from 10 yards, came with 3:55 on the clock.  The final score was a four-yard run with 1:34 remaining.  Hamlin made all four two-point conversions for a 64-0 final score.
