Bulldog Football Suffers Home Loss to Finish Regular Season

The De Smet Bulldog football team suffered a loss at home to end the regular season on Friday, October 13th.  The Elkton-Lake Benton Elks got the 12-2 in over the Bulldogs.  De Smet finished the 2023 regular season with a 6-2 record.

The Bulldog defense got a score in the first quarter on a tackle for loss by Grant Wilkinson in the endzone for a safety.  De Smet led 2-0 with 7:04 to go in the first quarter.  The Elks took the lead, 6-2, in the second quarter on a three-yard touchdown run.  The score remained 6-2 at halftime.

Elkton-Lake Benton extended their lead with a six-yard touchdown run with 5:19 remaining in the game.  That crucial score by the Elks gave them a two-score lead at 12-2.  The Elks defense was able to hold the Bulldog offense out of the endzone for the win.

De Smet will be the #4 seed in the 9B playoffs.  The Bulldogs will host Colome on Thursday, October 19th.
