The De Smet Bulldogs hosted the James Valley Christian Vikings in volleyball action on Tuesday, September 19th. The Vikings won in straight sets, but by close scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-18.
The Vikings started the match with a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs tied the score 8-8. The two teams traded points back and forth to a 17-17 tie. James Valley Christian went on a 4-0 run for a 21-17 lead and held for a 25-23 lead.
De Smet opened the second set on a 7-1 run. The Vikings tied the score 8-8, but the Bulldogs went ahead 14-11. James Valley Christian eventually tied the score 19-19 and then took the lead 21-19. They finished the set with a 25-22 win.
The third set started with a 3-3 tie. The Vikings went on a 4-0 run for a 7-3 lead. De Smet tied the set 8-8, but the Vikings went on a roll. They took a 14-10 lead and extended it to 21-15. The Bulldogs got the lead down to four, 21-17, but the Vikings ended the match on a 4-1 run.
