The De Smet Bulldogs hosted the Colman-Egan Hawks on Thursday, August 31st. The Hawks won in four sets by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-12.
Colman-Egan got out to a quick 10-2 lead to start the first set. They extended the lead to 14-4 and then 21-8 before winning 25-10. The second set started with an 8-0 run by the CE Hawks. De Smet got within two points 13-11, but the Hawks went on a 9-1 run for a 22-12 lead. They finished the set with a 26-16 win.
The Bulldogs rallied in the third set. They started the set with a 4-1 lead and continued to lead 10-7. Colman-Egan tied the score 11-11. After a three point lead by De Smet, 16-13, the set was tied at 17-17 and 18-18. The Bulldogs again took a slim 21-19 advantage only to have the Hawks tie the score 23-23. De Smet was able to score the final two points for the 25-23 win. The fourth set started with a 3-3 tie, but unfortunately for De Smet, Colman-Egan got on a roll. They went on an 11-4 run to lead 14-7 and extended that lead to 20-9 before winning 25-12.
