The De Smet Bulldogs hosted the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots for their homecoming football game on Friday, October 7th. The Patriots pushed a slim halftime lead to a 36-12 win.
Hitchcock-Tulare got on the board first midway through the first quarter. Carter Binger had an 80-yard run with 5:55 to play in the quarter for a 6-0 lead. De Smet tied the game with 4:12 left in the second quarter. Britt Carlson had a one-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown. The Patriots scored moments later. Riley Fliehe had a six-yard run with 2:55 left in the first half. Hitchcock-Tulare led 12-6 at halftime.
The Patriots then scored the next three touchdowns in the second half. Binger had a pair of six-yard touchdown runs. The first one was at 4:51 in the third quarter. The second run was with 0:05 to go in the quarter, and the Patriots led 28-6 after three quarters. Landon Puffer added a one-yard run with 6:46 left in the game to push the Patriot lead to 34-6.
Carlson had a nine-yard touchdown pass to Kadyn Fast with 2:34 to play in the game for a late score by the Bulldogs.
