Warbirds Shut Down De Smet Offense

The De Smet Bulldogs combined for 146 points in their last three games, which were victories.  On Friday, September 16th, the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds held the Bulldogs to just six points in a 28-6 home win.

The Warbirds scored on a 19-yard touchdown run with 7:48 to play in the first quarter.  The made the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  Their second score came on a three-yard run with 1:38 left in the opening quarter for a 14-0 lead at the quarter break.

Wolsey-Wessington scored again on the first play of the second quarter.  The Warbirds completed a 78-yard pass for a touchdown and then made the two-point conversion to push the lead to 22-0.  The score remained 22-0 in favor of the Warbirds the rest of the first half.

The final score for the Warbirds came with 3:53 to play in the third quarter on an eight-yard touchdown run.  The two-point conversion was no good, and the Warbirds led 28-0.  De Smet’s lone touchdown came with 7:00 to play in the game on a five-yard touchdown pass from Britt Carlson to Tom Aughenbaugh.

The Bulldogs (3-2) will be on their bye week on Friday, September 23rd.  They will return to action at home against Arlington on Friday, September 30th.
