The De Smet Bulldogs had no trouble with the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders at home on Friday, September 9th. The Bulldogs defeated the Raiders 58-0 at halftime.
De Smet scored five touchdowns in the first quarter. Kadyn Fast had a 41-yard touchdown run with 11:37 to go. Britt Carlson connected with Gannon Gruenhagen on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 8:32 to go in the quarter. Fast scored again with 6:32 on the clock on an 11-yard run. Trace Van Regenmorter then had two punt returns for a touchdown. The first one was a 31-yard return with 5:10 to go. The second return was from 45 yards with 2:07 to go in the quarter. De Smet converted on four of the five two-point conversions for a 38-0 lead after the first quarter.
The offense continued to roll in the second quarter. Ganon Henrich had a 38-yard touchdown run with 11:05 left in the half. Brody Halverson had a one-yard quarter back sneak for a touchdown with 8:08 to go. Gannon Gilligan also scored a touchdown on a 16-yard run with 4:25 to play. The Bulldogs converted one of three two-point conversions in the quarter for the 58-0 score.
De Smet will travel to Wolsey-Wessington on Friday, September 16th.
