De Smet Wins Hard-fought Match Against Deubrook

The De Smet Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season after a hard-fought, five-set win over the Deubrook Dolphins at home on Thursday, August 25th.  De Smet took the first set by just two points, 25-23.  The Dolphins won the next two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-8.  The Bulldogs were able to rebound after the third set and won the fourth set 25-18 to force the fifth and final set.  The fifth set was another close battle with the Bulldogs getting the extra-time win 16-14.

Hazel Luethmers finished with eight kills.  Jada Burke had seven kills, and Emma Albrecht had six kills.  Albrecht and Megan Dylla both finished with 10 set assists.  Luethmers also led the team with 10 blocks.  Olivia Johnson finished with six blocks, and Cori Birkel added four.  Burke had a team-high 39 digs followed by Albrecht with 24.  Albrecht also had two ace serves.  Mirra Beck and Jacie McCune both had two aces each.

The Bulldogs will be at Wolsey-Wessington on Tuesday, August 30th.
