The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals overcame a first quarter deficit to win their seventh game of the season on Monday, January 30th, at Dell Rapids St Mary High School. The Cardinals defeated the Bridgerwater/Emery Huskies 44-27 in front of their home crowd.
St Mary got off to a bit of a slow start and only scored five first quarter points. The Huskies had an 11-5 lead at the first quarter break. The Cardinals, however, got the offense going in the second quarter and outscored the Huskies 15-7 to take a two-point halftime lead at 20-18. The St Mary defense would hold Bridgewater/Emery to just nine total second half points while scoring 24 of their own for the win.
Ella Heinitz led the Cardinals in scoring on the night with 10 points.
The Cardinals (7-9) travel to Arlington to battle the Cardinals on Friday, February 3rd.
