Cardinal Girls Fall to Chester

DRSM LogoThe Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls couldn’t get past the Chester Area Flyers on Tuesday, January 5th, in Chester.  The Flyers defeated the Cardinals 56-30.

St Mary held a one-point lead with with 1:56 to go in the first quarter, but the Flyers would go on a run and end the quarter ahead 16-9.  Chester Area pushed the lead to 35-16 at halftime.  The Flyers continued to extend their lead in the second half by out-scoring St Mary 21-14 in the final two quarters.

The Cardinals finished the game shooting just 19% (8-42) from the field and 65% (15-23) from the free-throw line.  St Mary also had 31 team rebounds and turned the ball over 16 times.

Jackie Wolles ended the night with 12 points.  Lexi Klein added six points, and Abby Burkhart finished with five.  Cassy Geraets, Wolles, and Burkhart all finished with four rebounds apiece.  Klein had two assists, while Wolles had four steals.

St Mary (1-6) will host Lake Preston on Friday, January 8th, as part of a girls-boys double-header.  The games can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
