The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals trailed by 14 points at halftime to the Hendricks, MN Grizzlies. The Cardinal defense only allowed 12 second half points to earn a 37-36 come-from-behind win on Thursday, February 16th, in Hendricks.
The Cardinals offense struggled to get going in the first half. St Mary trailed 13-3 through the midway point of the first half and trailed 24-10 at halftime. St Mary got things rolling in the second half as they went on a 15-5 run in the first part of the second half to close the gap at 29-25 with 9:41 remaining in the game. St Mary took the lead at 35-33 with 1:41 to go and pushed that lead to four points with :32 to go in the game to complete the 14-point comeback win.
Jackie Wolles finished the game with 10 points in a balanced Cardinal scoring attack. Ella Heinitz finished with eight points, and Kennedi Mullaney and Lexi Klein both had six points each.
The Cardinals finish their regular season with a 9-11 record and will be the #4 seed in the District 7B tournament. The Cardinals will host Chester Area on Tuesday, February 21st. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
