The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys earned their first victory of the year on Senior Night over the Baltic Bulldogs on Friday, February 20th. St Mary’s first five field goals were three-point shots in the first quarter. Baltic held a 14-9 lead with 3:00 to go in the first quarter, but the Cardinals ended the quarter on a 10-0 run to take the lead 19-14 at the end of the quarter. St Mary held Baltic to just one point most of the second quarter while continuing to build their lead. The Cardinals led 35-20 at halftime.
St Mary continued to grow the lead in the third quarter as they were able to take a 16-point lead at 49-33 into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals were held to just nine points in the final quarter, but were able to hang on for the win.
St Mary’s record is now 1-18 on the year. The Cardinals will end the regular season in Chester on Monday, February 23rd. The game will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.
