The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team opened their season with a 59-49 win over Estelline on Friday, December 11th, at Dell Rapids St Mary High School.
Estelline held a two-point lead after the end of the first quarter at 10-8. The Cardinals were able to take the leading heading into halftime by a point at 23-22. St Mary pushed their lead to five points by the end of the third quarter at 39-34. The Cardinals then outscore Estelline 20-15 in the final quarter for the win.
Connor Libis led St Mary on the night with 20 points. Garret Frost added 11 points for the Cardinals. Estelline was led by Trevor Gorder with 21 points.
The Cardinals (1-0) will host Bridgewater/Emery on Monday, December 14th. The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
