The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys held a 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, but couldn’t hang on for the win against the Colman/Egan Hawks on Thursday, February 12th, in Colman. The C/E Hawks were able to take the lead heading into halftime at 23-20. Both teams scored nine points in the third quarter, and the C/E Hawks maintained a three-point lead at 32-29. The C/E Hawks held St Mary scoreless through the first half of the fourth quarter, and the Cardinals fell to Colman/Egan 49-38.
St Mary shot 33% (14-42) from the field, 38% (8-21) from three-point area, and 20% (2-10) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals had 23 team rebounds and turned the ball over 11 times. Mitch Brown had 15 points in the game. Christian Schneiders finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Noah Fiegen pulled down eight rebounds in the game.
The Cardinals fall to 0-17 on the year. St Mary travels to Oldham-Ramona/Rutland to take on the Raiders on Monday, February 16th.
