The Beresford Watchdogs held off a fourth-quarter rally by Garretson for a 64-58 win over the Blue Dragons on Tuesday, February 11th.
Garretson held an 8-4 lead with 4:00 to go in the opening quarter. Beresford rallied to tie the game 12-12 with 2:00 left and ended the quarter with a 21-14 lead. The Watchdogs continued to lead by seven, 28-21, with 4:00 left in the second quarter. They would end the first half with a 38-28 lead.
The Watchdogs continued to hold a double-digit lead throughout most of the third quarter. They led 48-37 going into the fourth quarter. Beresford pushed the lead to twelve points, 56-44, with 3:00 to play in the game. Garretson cut the lead to 58-52 with 1:15 left, and then 61-58 with :20 to go. The Watchdogs were able to hold off Garretson in the closing seconds for the win.
Four players finished in double figures. Malachi James had 23 points. Aidam Hamm ended with 15 points. Tiegen Nyhaug had 12 points, and Cooper Nelson added 10 points.
