Beresford Boys Back in Win Column, Hold off Cubs

The Beresford Watchdog boys got back into the win column by holding off the Alcester-Hudson Cubs, 78-71, on Saturday, February 8th.

The game was scoreless until the 5:15 mark of the opening quarter.  Beresford went on an 8-0 run and built a 22-6 lead by the end of the quarter.  They were able to stay in the lead the entire game.  The Watchdogs grew the lead to 42-22 by halftime.

Alcester-Hudson made a run in the second half.  The Cubs cut the lead down to 60-46 going into the fourth quarter.  They kept chipping away and got the deficit down to 64-57 with 4:15 to play.  But every time the Cubs made a run, the Watchdogs had an answer.  Beresford was able to make the free throws in the closing minute to hold off the Cub rally.

Four players finished in double figures.  Tiegen Nyhaug led the team with 21 points.  Aidan Hamm finished with 20 points and three assists.  Malachi James ended with 19 points and three assists.  Cooper Nelson had 11 points with three assists.  Ashton Oberle had five points and three assists.
