Brookings Cubs 11, River Dawgs 1
The River Dawgs were held to just one hit and scored their only run in the third inning in a loss to Brookings on Friday. The Cubs got out to an early 6-0 lead in the first two innings of the game. Brookings would add four more runs in the fifth and another one in the seventh.
Jon Wilhelmsen had a single and RBI. Andrew Evenson pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed nine runs, five earned, on six hits and three walks with one strikeout. Wilhelmsen pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
River Dawgs 10, Tea Steam 9
Baltic scored four times in the bottom of the ninth to earn a walk-off win over the Tea Steam on Saturday in a back-and-forth ball game. Tea scored a run in the top of the third and two more in the top of the fifth for a 3-0 lead. The River Dawgs scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams scored two runs in the sixth, and Tea led 5-4 after six innings. Baltic took the lead with two runs in the eight. The Steam went back in front with a four-run ninth, but the River Dawgs responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Ray Williams III had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Ty Schafer had a home run and three RBIs. Matt White, Colbe Scott, and Hunter Larson all had a hit and an RBI each. Logan Bakker had two hits. Ken Longman pitched six innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Schafer pitched three innings and allowed four runs, all unearned, on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
SF Flying Squirrels 13, River Dawgs 3
The Flying Squirrels turned a 4-3 lead into a 13-3 win with nine straight runs late in the game on Saturday. Baltic broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fifth inning. Sioux Falls had four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 4-1 lead. The River Dawgs pulled within a run, 4-3, after scoring two in the top of the seventh. The Flying Squirrels, however, scored five times in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
Williams III had two hits, a double and home run, with three RBIs. White had a double. Schafer and Bakker each had a single. Longman pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits with one strikeout. Andrew Van Dam pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed four earned runs on four hits. White pitched an inning and allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits and a walk with one strikeout.
