Baltic Holds off Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan in Wild Second Half

Baltic survived a wild second half on Friday, October 9th at home, holding off Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 40-36 in a game that featured big plays, quick strikes, and a frantic fourth quarter.
The Seahawks struck first, taking advantage of an early opening and scoring on a 13-yard touchdown run at the 10:16 mark of the first quarter to jump in front 6-0.  Baltic answered with a momentum-swinging drive late in the quarter. Henry Anderson connected with Brechen Frederick on a 37-yard touchdown pass with 4:22 left, and the Bulldogs converted the two-point try to flip the score to 8-6.  The Bulldogs kept building in the second quarter. With 3:19 left before halftime, Anderson found Bryce Campbell for a five-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-6.
Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan came out of the locker room swinging, ripping off a 65-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half at 11:49 to cut the margin to 14-12.  Baltic responded immediately with a third-quarter surge that changed the game.
Anderson hit Cale Roach for an 18-yard touchdown pass at 5:25 in the third quarter to push the lead to 20-12. Just over a minute later, Anderson struck again, launching a 65-yard touchdown pass to Frederick at 4:00. Baltic added another two-point conversion to make it 28-12.  The Bulldogs’ defense helped keep the momentum in Baltic’s favor as well, with Treylen DeHaven coming up with an interception in the third quarter. That takeaway set the stage for another score, as Aaron Nordbye powered in on a two-yard touchdown run at 3:13 to make it 34-12.
But the Seahawks weren’t done.  Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan made a furious push in the fourth quarter, scoring on a two-yard touchdown pass at 10:09 and converting the two-point attempt to trim it to 34-20. Baltic answered right back in a flash, as Frederick broke free for an 80-yard touchdown run at 9:53 to give the Bulldogs some breathing room at 40-20.
From there, the final minutes turned into a track meet.  The Seahawks scored on a one-yard touchdown run at 7:44 (two-point conversion good) to make it 40-28, then added a nine-yard touchdown pass at 2:52 and converted another two-point try to pull within four at 40-36.  Baltic’s special teams and situational football sealed the win. The Bulldogs recovered the ensuing kickoff, then leaned on smart clock management to run out the final minutes and lock up the win.
