Tri-Valley Powers Past Baltic Baseball

The Baltic high school baseball team was shut down by Tri-Valley, 18-4, on Thursday, April 23rd.

Tri-Valley took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning.  Jackson Goehring tied the game with an RBI triple in the bottom of the first.  Isaac Oakley gave Baltic the lead, 2-1, with an RBI single later in the inning.  The second inning was scoreless, and that’s when Tri-Valley started to pull away.  They scored two runs in the third, three in the fourth, and five more in the top of the fifth for an 11-2 lead.

Goehring had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 11-3.  Tri-Valley had a run in the top of the sixth and then had a six-run top of the seventh for an 18-3 lead.  Elias Oakley drove home the final run for Baltic in the bottom of the seventh.

Goehring finished with three hits, one a triple, and two RBIs.  I. Oakley had an RBI.  Aaron Nordbye added a double, and Zach Helgeson had a single.  E. Oakley ended with an RBI.  E. Oakley pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts.  Laken Kortemeyer tossed 2 1/3 innings and allowed nine runs, four earned, on five hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Helgeson pitched an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and two walks and one strikeout.
