Baltic Baseball Forces Extra Innings and Beats McCook Central

The Baltic high school baseball team waited until the bottom of the seventh to score their first run of the game, but it was enough to send the game to extra innings where Baltic was able to walk-off McCook Central 2-1 on Friday, April 24th.

Neither team scored through the first four innings of play.  McCook Central took the lead with a two-out, RBI double in the top of the fifth.  The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the seventh.  Isaac Oakley reached on an error to start the inning and was able to advance to third with one out.  Laken Kortemeyer brought him home with a single to tie the game 1-1.  In the bottom of the eighth inning, Elias Oakley reached base with a one-out single.  Zach Helgeson was hit by a pitch with two outs to advance E. Oakley to second.  Kortemeyer reached base on an error that also allowed E. Oakley to score the winning run.

Kortemeyer had a single with an RBI.  E. Oakley and Jackson Goehring each had a single for the other two Baltic hits in the game.  I. Oakley pitched seven innings and allowed an earned run on five hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.  Brody Hansen pitched one inning and allowed a hit while striking out one batter.
