The Baltic high school baseball team hosted Dell Rapids on Tuesday, May 12th. Dell Rapids’ offense was rolling as they took the 20-4 in three innings.
Dell Rapids scored six times in the top of the first for an early 6-0 lead. Elias Oakley had an RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning. Jackson Goehring followed with an RBI single and then later scored on an error to cut the lead in half, 6-3, after one inning of play. Dell Rapids, however, would score three more times in the top of the second and then had an 11-run top of the third for a 20-3 score. Zach Helgeson had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the third for the final score for Baltic.
Oakley finished with a triple and double with an RBI. Goehring had two hits and an RBI. Laken Kortemeyer and Alex Hockenberry each had a hit, and Helgeson finished with an RBI.
Goehring pitched one inning and allowed nine runs, six earned, on three hits and five walks. Cale Roach tossed an inning and walked one batter. Helgeson pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed 11 runs, six earned, on three hits and six walks and one strikeout. Mikey Grunewaldt pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing one hit and struck out one batter.
