Bulldog Softball Suffers Setback in Salem

The Baltic Bulldogs got down early and their come back fell short in an 18-9 loss to the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars on Tuesday, April 22nd.

The Cougars scored nine times in the bottom of the first for a 9-0 lead.  Baltic got three runs in the second and two more in the top of the third to cut the lead to 9-5.  McCook Central/Montrose, however, scored four runs in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 13-5.

The Bulldogs put together another strong inning in the top of the fourth.  They scored three more times to make the score 13-8.  McCook Central/Montrose got a run in the fourth, another in the fifth, and then ended the game on the 10-run rule with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kaylee Siemonsma had two doubles and two RBIs.  Harper Kortemeyer had a home run with three RBIs.  Amaris Handsaker, Ashlyn Klein, Ellie Pickett, and Ryah Peters all had one hit each.  Charlee Blommer pitched five innings and allowed 11 runs, eight earned, on seven hits and six walks with four strikeouts.  Klein pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed eight runs, one earned, on two hits and five walks with a strikeout.
