Early Lead Key to Win for Sioux Falls Christian over Baltic Baseball

The Baltic High School baseball team had their first game of the 2025 season against Sioux Falls Christian in Sioux Falls on Friday, March 28th.  Five early runs sparked a 9-3 win for Sioux Falls Christian.

All five early runs were scored in the first three innings.  Sioux Falls Christian got a run in the bottom of the first, two in the bottom of the second, and two more in the bottom of the third to build a 5-0 lead.  After a scoreless fourth inning, Baltic put together a rally in the fifth.

Cale Roach and Aaron Nordbye both drew a one-out walk.  After a strikeout for the second out of the inning, Braxten Allen hit an inside-the-park home run to right field to bring Baltic within two, 5-3.  Sioux Falls Christian, however, answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and then added one more run in the bottom of the sixth.

Allen’s home run was one of the two hits for Baltic in the game.  Allen also had all three RBIs.  Isaac Oakley had the other hit in the game.  AJ Grunewaldt started the game and pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs on three hits and seven walks with five strikeouts.  Allen pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
