Baltic Baseball Earns First Win of Season

The Baltic high school baseball team earned their first win of the season on Thursday, April 11th.  They came from behind to defeat Tri-Valley 13-8 in Colton.

Baltic scored right away in the top of the first inning.  Braxton Allen had an RBI sacrifice fly, Beau Breece scored on an error, and Tate Feucht scored on a wild pitch for an early 3-0 lead.  Tri-Valley responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 4-3 lead after one inning of play.  Tri-Valley added another run in the bottom of the second.  After a scoreless third inning, Baltic regained the lead in the top of the fourth.  Jackson Goehring had an RBI single, Riley Schultz drove home a run with a double, Breece added an RBI groundout, and Feucht hit an RBI triple to put Baltic in front 7-5.

Tri-Valley pulled within a run, 7-6, after scoring on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning, but that was as close as they would get.  Feucht had another RBI hit in the top of the sixth inning making the score 8-6.  Baltic delivered the knockout blow in the top of the seventh by scoring five times.  Breece had a two-run double, Allen had a two-run single, and Feucht scored on a passed ball.  Tri-Valley scored two times in the bottom of the seventh.

Goehring ended with four hits and an RBI.  Feucht had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.  Allen had two hits and three RBIs.  Breece added a double and three RBI.  Schultz also had a double with an RBI.  Ryder Siemonsma had two hits, and Payton Anderson had a double.

Allen pitched four innings and allowed one run, unearned, on a hit with nine strikeouts.  Schultz pitched two innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on a hit with six strikeouts.  Feucht threw one inning and allowed five runs, four earned, on one hit and six walks with three strikeouts.
