Baltic Baseball Wins in Vermillion

The Baltic high school club baseball team earned their first win of the season on Monday, April 17th.  Baltic traveled to Vermillion and came home with a 7-2 victory.

After a scoreless first inning, Baltic scored two times in the top of the second.  Tayden Hansen scored on a balk, and Matt Muston scored on an early for an early 2-0 advantage.  Vermillion cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the fourth.  Baltic, however, had a big fifth inning.  Gunner Schutlz had an RBI single, Beau Keith had a two-run triple, and then Keith stole home giving Baltic a 6-1 lead.  Baltic added to the lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Riley Schultz.  Vermillion scored one time in the bottom of the seventh.

Keith had a triple an two RBIs.  R. Schultz and G. Schultz both had a single and an RBI.  Jose Valadez finished with two hits.  Beau Breace and B Allen each had a single.  R. Schultz pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.  Keith pitched two innings allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
