After leading by 18 points with 4:56 to go in the third quarter, the Arlington Cardinals hung on to beat the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals 51-45 in Arlington on Friday, January 29th. The game had eight lead changes and five ties.
St Mary led by as many as four in the first quarter, but had just a 16-14 after the first quarter. St Mary, however, then only scored four points in the second quarter, and Arlington had a 35-20 lead at halftime. St Mary was able to chip away at the lead and closed out the third quarter trailing 47-38. St Mary outscored Arlington 7-4 in the fourth quarter, but Arlington was able to hold on for the win.
Kennedi Mullaney had 13 points and six rebounds to lead St Mary. Jackie Wolles added nine points and four rebounds. Abby Burkhart tossed in eight points and grabbed six rebounds. Sydney Cook and Cassy Geraets each had six points. St Mary finished the night shooting 41% (15-35) from the field.
St Mary (3-11) will travel to Bridgewater to face Bridgewater-Emery on Monday, February 1st.
