Trappers Make Last-Second Shot to Steal Win from Cub Girls

The Scotland/Menno Trappers scored the game-winning basket with just :06 left on the clock to defeat the Alcester-Hudson Cubs 38-37 on Saturday, January 18th.

The entire game went back and forth.  The first quarter would end in a 9-9 tie.  The Cubs would take a 17-14 lead in the second quarter, but the Trappers scored the next five points for a 19-17 lead.  Alcester-Hudson tied the game 19-19 at halftime.

The third quarter was a quarter of runs.  Scotland/Menno went on a 6-0 run for a 25-19 lead.  The Cubs responded with a 9-0 run to end the quarter for a 28-25 advantage.  The run for the Cubs continued into the fourth quarter.  They scored the first five points and led 33-25.  Alcester-Hudson continued to lead 36-29 with 1:15 to play.  Scotland/Menno then made a furious comeback.  The Trappers tied the game 36-36 with :40 to go.  After the Cubs went one of two from the free-throw line to go back in front 37-36, the Trappers made the game-winning shot with :06 to play.

Emily Winquist finished with 13 points and three rebounds.  Emma Solberg had 10 points and three rebounds.  Jenna Manning added seven points.  Delta Pies had four points and three rebounds.  Devin Hongslo had three points.  Emma Moller had five rebounds, and Hannah Ahart had three rebounds.
