Cubs Volleyball Beats Scotland in Straight Sets

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team played in their third straight road match to start the season on Tuesday, September 3rd.  The Cubs broke into the win column with a straight set win over the Scotland Highlanders by scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-19.

Alcester-Hudson built a five-point lead, 16-11, by the midway point of the first set.  Scotland then went on a 7-1 run to take an 18-17 lead.  The Cubs responded well with an 8-1 run to take the first set 25-19.  The second set started with a 3-3 tie and then the score was tied again 8-8.  The Cubs rallied for a three-point lead, 13-10.  Alcester-Hudson was able to maintain that lead and were still in front 19-16 before extending the lead to 21-16.  They were able to close out the second set with a 25-20 win.

The third set started off back and forth.  Each team and leads throughout the halfway point of the set.  The score was tied 11-11.  The Cubs were able to work themselves to a four-point lead, 18-14.  The Highlanders got within two points, 21-19, but the Cubs finished the match on a 4-0 run for the 25-19 win.

Emma Moller finished the match with 10 kills and 11 digs.  Hannah Ahart also had 10 kills with 23 digs and three ace serves.  Emma Solberg had six kills and 5.5 blocks.  Paxtyn Moller had 23 set assists, seven digs, and four ace serves.  Jenna Manning added 14 digs, and Baylee Klaschen had 11 digs.
