Alcester-Hudson Suffers Second Straight Road Loss

The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team traveled to Dell Rapids to take on the St Mary Cardinals on Thursday, August 29th.  The Cardinals took the match in straight sets.

The Cubs started the match with a 4-0 run.  They led 6-2 before St Mary scored four in a row to tie the score 6-6.  The Cardinals went ahead 10-9 and extended their lead to 14-10.  They continued to lead by four points, 17-13, but the Cubs rallied and tied the score 19-19 before grabbing a 20-19 lead.  The Cardinals scored the next three points to go back in front 22-20.  St Mary finished the first set on a 3-1 run for a 25-21 win.

Alcester-Hudson started the second set with a 5-3 lead.  They extended the lead to 9-5.  The Cubs were still in front 11-9, but the Cardinals tied the score 12-12.  The score was tied again 14-14, and then St Mary went on an 8-0 run for a 22-14 lead.  The Cardinals stayed in front and won 25-18.

The third set started with a 2-2 and 4-4 tie.  The Cubs went ahead by a score of 7-5.  The Cardinals tied the score 8-8, and then scored three in a row for an 11-8 lead.  They extended the lead to 17-12.  Alcester-Hudson pulled within two points, 18-16, but St Mary did not let go of the lead.  They went on a 6-2 run for a 24-18 score before winning 25-19.

Emma Moller finished with eight kills and two digs.  Delta Pies had three kills.  Hannah Ahart added 12 digs and three ace serves.  Jenna Manning had 11 digs, and Baylee Klaschen had nine digs.  Paxtyn Moller finished with 12 set assists and four digs.
