Alcester-Hudson Volleyball Wins in Straight Sets at Gayville-Volin

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs took another straight set win on Thursday, August 29th.  The Cubs beat the Gayville-Volin Raiders by scores of 26-24, 27-25, and 25-18.  The win helped keep the Cubs undefeated on the season.

In the opening set, the two teams started in a 5-5 tie.  The Cubs went ahead 11-8, but the Raiders tied the set 11-11.  The score remained tied 17-17.  Gayville-Volin then took a three-point lead 21-18.  Alcester-Hudson went on a 6-0 run to go ahead 24-21.  After the Raiders tied the score 24-24, the Cubs scored the final two points for a 26-24 win.

The second set started the same as the first with a 5-5 tie.  The Cubs then went on a 4-0 run for a 9-5 lead.  They extended that lead to 12-7.  They continued to lead by five points, 22-17, before the Raiders went on a 6-1 run to tie the game 23-23.  After 24-24 and 25-25 ties, the Cubs scored the final two points again for a 27-25 victory.

The Cubs and Raiders started the third set tied 6-6.  Alcester-Hudson then went on an 8-1 run for a 14-7 lead.  The lead grew to 18-10 and then 21-12.  The Raiders went on a 6-0 run to pull within three, 21-18.  The Cubs finished the match on a 4-0 run for a 25-18 win.

Emma Moller finished with seven kills, six digs, and two sets.  Elly Doering added six kills, 12 digs, and five blocks.  Alexis Gray also had six kills, 12 digs, and an ace serve.  Carly Patrick had five kills, four digs, and a block.  Hannah Ahart had a team-high 23 set assists, 17 digs, and three kills.  Jenna Manning and Baylee Klaschen both had 12 digs.
