Fourth Quarter Surge Gives Avon Win over Cub Girls

The Avon Pirates outscored the Cubs 15-7 to earn a come-from-behind 37-28 win over Alcester-Hudson on Saturday, January 7th.

The Cubs had the advantage in the first half.  Alcester-Hudson led 10-8 at the end of the first quarter and then 17-14 at halftime.  Avon did outscore the Cubs 8-4 in the third quarter to take a 22-21 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Pirates then went on the big run in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Alcester-Hudson shot 18% (10-55) from the field, 7% (2-30) from three-point area, and 50% (6-12) from the free-throw line.

Elly Doering had 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Ella Serck finished with seven points, nine rebounds, and three steals.  Kayleigh Thompson added five points and four rebounds.  Sarah Ebert had three points and six rebounds, and Alexis Gray also had three points.
