The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals girls basketball team picked up a season-opening home win against the Garretson Blue Dragons by a score of 49-46 on Tuesday, December 10th. The Cardinals lead 19-11 after the first quarter, but were only able to score six points in the second quarter, which allowed Garretson to tie the game at 25-25 at halftime. St Mary held a one point lead after the third quarter at 36-35.
Kelly Michel led the team with 18 points. Lindsey Wolles had 15 points. Amber Hansen and Anna Wolles each had five points in the game, while Ally Mullaney added four and Sara Ginsbach had two points.
The Cardinals will travel to DeSmet to take on the Bulldogs on Thursday, December 12th.
