The 2021-2022 West Central Trojan boys basketball team will be a very experienced team. West Central will have eight seniors on this year’s team. The Trojans finished last year with a 14-8 overall record and a 5-5 record in Dak XII Conference play. West Central lost to Dell Rapids in the Region 3A semifinals to end their 2020-2021 season.
Top returning players for this season will be Jacob Krempges (senior), Wilson Droge (senior), Grafton Stroup (senior), Jack Linneman (senior), and Carter Schmeichel (junior). West Central will also have top newcomers Braden Dierickx (senior), Dillon Jackson (senior), Mubarak Ibrahim (senior), Braden Herr (senior), Owen Heath (junior), and Dylan Stromer (junior).
Head coach Jacob Sittig said, “We feel we have the best chance to compete in the top of our conference and in our class as we have had the last 10-15 years. We are very athletic and fast. We can score in a variety of ways, but most of all, we have a lot of three-point shooters. We are extremely deep being able to put eleven players on the court. And out of those eleven players, we don’t drop off much. We plan to play very up temp on both ends of the floor to use our depth to the best of our ability.”
The Trojans start the season at home on Friday, December 10th against the team that ended their season last year, the Dell Rapids Quarriers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
