The Dell Rapids legion team nearly had its second straight last inning come-from-behind win on Saturday, July 11th at Rickeman Field, but the rally fell one run short.  Colton hung on for a 4-3 win over Dell Rapids.

After the first batter of the game walked for Colton, he later scored on a two-out single in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead.  Colton then scored two more runs in the top of the second inning on two outs to extend their early lead to 3-0.  Dell Rapids got their first run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Kaeden Eastman to cut the Colton lead to 3-1.  The score remained that way until the seventh inning.

Colton was able to get one more run on a one-out single to extend the lead to 4-1 heading into the bottom half of the inning.  Dell Rapids got two base runners on base on hit by pitches.  Down to their final out and two runners on base, Dell Rapids started to make some noise.  Noah Swartwout hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.  Eastman followed with another RBI single to pull within a run at 4-3.  Swartwout and Eastman both stole bases to put runners on second and third base.  Zeb Schumaker nearly completed the comeback for Dell Rapids, but his sinking line drive was caught in left field to end the game.

Eastman finished with two hits and two RBIs.  Swartwout also had two hits and an RBI.  Logan Stone, Drew Van Regenmorter, and Schumaker also had hits in the game.  Brady Larson took the loss on the mound pitching all seven innings giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Dell Rapids (7-8) will travel to Humboldt to play West Central on Monday, July 13th.
